Senior Materials Scientist / Engineer

About the job

Together with the team of technicians, engineers and scientists in the Product Engineering team you will be responsible to drive scientific and technological advancement in the field of luminescent (nano)materials and LEDs. You will focus on optimizing our materials and technologies to working prototypes and commercial readiness and will contribute to writing these innovations down in patent applications and scientific publications.

What are you going to do?

  • Optimize our materials and technologies to working prototypes and commercial readiness, with a focus on rare-earth doped systems.
  • Advanced characterization and analysis of materials produced by you, your colleagues, or external partners. This includes both structural and optical properties.
  • Stay up to date with scientific progress and translate new insights to solutions that fit our fields of application.
  • Collaborate with our internal (lab) staff and external researchers. Share ideas and results, spark creativity and drill down on fundamental problems.
  • Your work will lead to new intellectual property and scientific breakthroughs. You will thus contribute to writing patents, scientific papers, conference presentations, and grant proposals.

Is it you we're looking for?

  • A PhD degree in Chemistry / Materials Science / Physics or equivalent.
  • Preferably > 5 years working experience on phosphor development in an industrial environment. If you have less experience you are also welcome to apply.
  • Hands on experience in the field of luminescent materials synthesis and characterization (e.g. electron microscopy, XRD, physisorption, (time resolved) optical spectroscopy, QY measurements). Experience with nanomaterials would be an advantage.
  • Track record in writing scientific publications and presenting results to a professional audience.
